Despite the aquascaping of this 45g Brazilian based SPS reef, it’s the shear beauty of corals which deserves your viewing attention… and according to Roberto, the colours are bouncing back since the tank transitioned from metal halide lighting over to T5s.

Since Brandon Mason published History of Pico Reef Biology here on nanoreefblog.com — many more hobbyists have attempted the ‘reefbowl’ concept.

I’m sure most of us would love to have a little system on our desk at work. Take a look at Jason G’s video of his 8g nano reef through the lens of Apple’s iPhone 4.

There isn’t much I can say about this striking new Caribbean basslet that hasn’t already been said (here and over here), other than I’m trying to track one down — anybody in Europe able to help me out? Any UK retailers able to source me one from Dejong Marinelife?
This is a great piece of reef aquarium cinematography. I can only imagine what this system will look like once it grows out. Not only is this a fine example of a modern reef aquarium featuring a rimless design, T5 fixture and open aquascape, the frags in this glass box are stunning. How many frags [...]
Mantis shrimps (actually known as Stomatopods) are an amazing collection of ’shrimps’ — the smashers, the grabbers, spearers, the big one’s and the small one’s, the brightly coloured ones… It is also a well known fact that these creatures are highly intelligent and can be somewhat destructive and violent. But if you can get past [...]
The guys over at CoralMorphologic have delivered yet another stunning piece of reef cinema. Take a look at this video:
The video shows the crab alternating between preening its own algae covered carapace and the fluorescent tentacles of the Ricordea florida on which it lives. It is possible that the crab may ingest some of the [...]
It’s strange how we as aquarists find spawning behaviour of our fish so fascinating. Perhaps it’s the idea that we never expect to see fish ‘doing their thing’ within the confines of an aquarium. Seeing a pair of fish do the spawning ritual is one thing, but how often do you capture it on film [...]
If you’re not familiar with Dutch reefer, Robert van Tilburg (otherwise known as Robertus on various forums) and his 50g reef, then you’re in for a visual treat. This video shows of the 2nd interation of this very successful aquarium. The aquascaping is somewhat unique in that it’s pretty much ‘floats’ in the tank. You [...]
The RedSea Max range of aquariums have proved quite popular since they arrived on the scene. In this great video, StevieT shows off his 34g ‘OfficeMax’ system. The tank was recently featured as nano-reef.com’s November tank of the month.
The HD goodness starts just after the 1:00 mark.
