Hey, great tank, I have the same tank but just run a refugium as a filter. white spot is a nightmare-now all fish are quarentined and treated with quinine, hassle but worth it. I live down the road from you so probably the same strain!

I was thinking of getting the nanocustoms retrofit-did you have to get a transformer because of the voltage difference from the States?

Cheers

Chi,

The back of the JBJ tank is open and the MCE skimmer you want to use is a hang on back type, so really it's just a matter of hanging the skimmer on the back of the tank. However--and this is a big however--the bubble catcher on the Deltec skimmer you're considering will not really be compatible out-of-the box since the there is such limited space in the back of the JBJ nano cube. You'd need to modify the chamber(s) in the back of the tank which would (depending on when you bought it) void its warranty. They are certainly smaller but JBJ's own skimmer or the AquaticLife Mini 115 would both work. We're testing a new skimmer on a JBJ nano in the office as I write this but I checked and I'm not allowed to speak about it yet. Boo. We'll do a big splash on them when they're released so keep your eyes peeled.

Hi Tim, thanks for stopping by the site.

With regards to using Vodka in your reef tank, I would recommend reading this article over at Glassbox-Design, it is very good: http://glassbox-design.com/2008/achieved-through-observation-and-experimentation/ and try: http://glassbox-design.com/2008/the-vsv-method-faq/

There is also a good article here: http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2008-08/nftt/index.php

Good luck.

I'm shutting the tank down this weekend. *Big sigh* It's actually going to be really sad to see it go but I'll be buying a place in a few months so it's best to get it out of the way now. Hopefully I'll be able to get that 4x2x2 that I've got my heart set on in 6 months time!
